Dol Releases Report On Youth Summer Jobs

News-and-Society A report has been released on the Youth Summer Jobs initiative by the U.S. Department of Labor. The analysis of the report is that the young workers have been connected with employment experiences making the Youth Summer Jobs Initiative a success. According to the Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis the summer youth employment initiative was a success as youngsters were able to get real work experience and struggling families got some help during the tough times. The summer youth employment initiative was also beneficial as it provided employers with a way to repay their .munities. Further she stated that according to the report young people were able to get meaningful work experiences in reality with the summer youth employment initiative. Tips to build on the success of the Youth Summer Jobs Initiative in 2010, was also available in the report. The U.S. Department of Labor funded the report which was developed by the Mathematica Policy Research. The report was titled "Reinvesting in America’s Youth: Lessons from the 2009 Recovery Act Summer Youth Employment Initiative." In this report the analysis of the data submitted by states to the department’s Employment and Training Administration had taken place. The report also monitored and took into account the experiences of 20 select local areas. The report"s findings were many; youth were easily getting placed in summer jobs, work outside summer months was attainable by 13 percent of the enrolees, sixty-three percent of the participants were in school and were 18 years or younger. While participating in this initiative 75 percent of the youth achieved an increase in work readiness skills as reported by the local areas. .pletion of more than 82 percent of the summer work was achieved according to the data shown. The employers when interviewed for the study were all positive about the initiative which was also stated in the report.
